The business
Shamrock Electrical is an Irish electrical wholesaler based in Rathcoole, Dublin. It is an established business with real revenue, a real customer base, and a working Shopify ecommerce store at shamrockelectrical.ie.
Shamrock sells to homeowners and trade buyers across Ireland. The product catalogue includes LED lighting, electric radiators, outdoor lights, bathroom mirrors and vanity units, and a range of electrical accessories. It is the kind of business that depends on being found at the moment a buyer is looking.
The problem
Before the GEO work, Shamrock had reasonable Google SEO performance. It ranked for a number of product-level keywords and received consistent organic traffic from traditional search.
But it was invisible in AI-generated answers. When buyers asked ChatGPT or Perplexity where to buy electric radiators in Ireland, who the best Irish electrical supplier was, or which online stores sold outdoor lighting for homes in Dublin, Shamrock did not appear. Competitors did.
The AI tools did not have what they needed to cite Shamrock with confidence. What we did
The implementation ran across three weeks and covered the following workstreams:
- ✓ Schema markup: LocalBusiness, Product and FAQPage schema added to key collection and product pages across the Shopify theme
- ✓ FAQ content: Question-and-answer blocks written and published on eight collections, including electric radiators, outdoor floodlights, wall lanterns, LED lighting, vanity mirrors and bathroom lighting
- ✓ Meta description rewrites: Collection and top product pages rewritten with buyer-intent language and AI-readable descriptions
- ✓ Buying guides: Two guides published, covering electric radiators and outdoor event lighting for businesses, structured to answer buyer questions directly
- ✓ Google Business Profile: Categories, attributes, description, Q&A and product listings updated to align with the GEO content work
- ✓ Citation building: Business listings created or updated across Irish directories and trade listings to strengthen the entity footprint
- ✓ Navigation and messaging: Discontinued products removed, site structure clarified, free shipping messaging updated from "Free Shipping Worldwide" to "Free Shipping Across Ireland" to align with actual buyer queries
What happened 72 hours later
Seventy-two hours after the schema markup and FAQ content went live, ChatGPT began citing Shamrock Electrical by name for buyer queries in its category. Queries like "best electric radiator supplier Ireland" and "where to buy outdoor lights in Dublin" returned answers that included Shamrock among the recommended businesses.
Perplexity followed with similar citations. Google AI Overviews surfaced Shamrock for "Irish electrical suppliers" and related searches within the same window.

That is not a templated recommendation or a generic mention. It is an AI tool expressing high confidence in a specific business. That confidence came directly from the structured data, FAQ content and citation footprint work done in the three weeks prior.
What this validates
The method works. AI citation is not accidental and it is not reserved for large brands with enormous marketing budgets. It follows from specific, implementable actions: structured data, question-answering content, and a consistent, verified presence across the sources AI tools use to make decisions.
Shamrock Electrical is a mid-sized Irish ecommerce store. It is not a household name. Before this work, it was invisible to AI tools despite having a functioning website and years of SEO investment. After the work, it was the first recommendation.
